At the age of 29, while a mother of a newborn and a two year old, physical pain and anxiety catapulted me into a search for relief outside of the conventional medical system. I had been born round and robust but soon became a weak youngster, doctoring most of my life with long-term antibiotics. I struggled with multiple early childhood kidney infections; high fever deliriums and reoccurring bloody strep throats, as well as anemia, systemic yeast infections, and chronic painful arthritis. Emotionally I suffered from posttraumatic stress syndrome and anxiety and no matter how many doctor visits and counseling sessions, I could not come to a place of strength and wellness.
Finally a friend told me about homeopathy. As a chemist I was extremely skeptical. But I was desperate because I so deeply wanted to be well so that I could be an energetic Mom for my girls. So I gave it a try. Ten days after I took my first remedy I had a severe high fever and strep throat. Not realizing I should call the homeopath I went to my medical doctor as usual and got an antibiotic. The next time I saw the homeopath the same thing happened.
Finally the third time I saw the homeopath I decided if I got another fever I would call the homeopath and try and make it through it. Sure enough. I nurtured myself through the illness and have never had strep throat again. (That was 26 years ago!).
I was so encouraged that I could heal without an antibiotic that I delved into homeopathy full force, beginning a life-long healing journey for my family and myself.
In the beginning my arthritis miraculously disappeared. As I grew in the understanding of energy and the power of homeopathy I began to work with it to heal life long emotional pain. As I healed emotionally and spiritually in turn my physical symptoms subsided. Having two children of my own and having been raised in a large family with many siblings I wanted to share my healing with all of them. One day a wise homeopathic friend of mine told me a secret about homeopathy which I also believe is true for all spiritual and energetic healing techniques. She said, "If you heal yourself, your family will also heal, so keep focused on your own healing." That was a tall order. And that is what I have tried to do. Of course once I realized the benefits of homeopathy as a mother I provided homeopathy to my young children with great results. Their chronic ear infections disappeared. Their day-care and school anxiety decreased. I used Arnica on their bruises and remedies when they came down with the stomach flu. They never had to suffer like I did from the side effects of medications. And now as grown beautiful young women they have a strong sense of how to maintain their own wellness in their adult lives. For this I am grateful.
Now I use many healing methods from eating organic food to using herbs and doing Qigong, but homeopathy has a special place in my life. It is a magnificent tool that helps me remove blockages that cause me to be ill. It clears pain; it helps me move through unthinkable unfaceable emotions. It brings peace and calm. It brings most of all flexibility and a deep knowledge of my own self, my uniqueness, my wants, my needs, and my preferences. I have learned that the self-exploration that I experience in working with a homeopath and the clearing that the actual energetic remedies bring provide me with self-knowledge and awareness that is only for me. This enables me to experience the joy and mystery of being myself, pure joy and beauty, part of the source of all beings.
As stories go, I eventually moved from working in the conventional medical system of hospitals and nursing-homes, to entering law school and obtaining my JD degree. My bio is attached. Many blessings to those consumers and healers who are bringing healing to all of us.
